The impact of COVID-19 is a critical threat to Strange Town and to the livelihoods of all those who work in the arts. Most of Strange Town’s funding comes from people like you, taking part in our activities and coming to see our performances. Without this the vast majority of our income is gone.
We are determined to survive, to retain our dedicated team, and to get our activities back on track as soon as possible. So we need your help urgently.

Strange Town is a registered charity, and any donation – large or small – will ensure that our company can continue, long after this crisis is past.
If you are able, we would like to ask our members to please donate your term fees for April-June. Of course, if sessions are able to resume during this period, this fee payment will go towards these sessions.
If you are not a current Strange Town member but are still in a position to donate, and would like to do so, we would welcome this wholeheartedly.
Following the UK Government announcement on Mon 16th March 2020 to step up measures to fight the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, we have taken the sad decision to temporarily cancel all Strange Town activities with immediate effect.
This includes all youth theatre sessions at Out of the Blue, Leith Community Centre and the Pilmeny Centre and all after school drama sessions in primary schools. This is of course not a decision we have taken lightly, but we take the health and safety of our young people, staff, freelancers and partners very seriously.
However, we do know that our youth theatre productions in June at the Storytelling Centre and the Traverse Theatre will now not take place. We are very very sorry about this, as we know how much work has gone into these already.
We will of course continue to follow Government advice as it is issued. This is such a complex and fast-moving situation and we really didn’t want to have to take this course of action, but the safety of all the people we work with is the most important thing.
Your support means everything to us and we will miss working with our young performers during the coming weeks. We look forward to this crisis being over and welcoming you all back to Strange Town in person: both at our sessions and at our performances.
